Ruby and I woke up around 7:30 AM. She fed me cereal. I did my makeup and got dress listening to KPOP which made me very happy in the morning. I had to go observe at the school the very first day and it is nothing like Hawaii. I wait at another Kindergarten school that my bosses own to catch the bus with the kids to work. We were there early so Ruby made me go inside and see if Mrs. Kang (the wife owner)was there. It was super awkward. I get to school around 9:40 and the first class starts 10:10. Eve (the old teacher) and I talked before class started.
So here's the verdict/descriptions on Korean kids.
Very cute and tiny but not well behaved to English teachers. (Maybe because they rarely understand what we are saying
Rowdy almost like animals in a jungle
That day there was a birthday party. Apparently, the school celebrate kids' birthdays 4 times a year. They group them together and give them a huge celebration. Everyone gathers in the PE room where it's fully decorated. Birthday kids wear their traditional Korean clothing which is called hanbok. Kids walk the runway and get their pictures taken while their classmates watch. We sing to them. And take more pictures. It was something I've never experienced in my life. The event was basically to get good pictures of the birthday kids to show to parents while the other students get rowdy and entertain each other by fooling around and pushing each other with their feet. I thought it was a mad house.
Here are some pictures for proof.
these are all the foods that the parents brought for their kids
The guy taking the picture is my male boss(the husband owner)
Each birthday student got to pick someone to kiss them.
Anyways, the work day ended and got back to Ruby's house to shower and rest until dinner time with everyone from my school and Ruby's Academy. We had yakiniku and somaeg (soju + beer). It was my welcome dinner + Eve's going away dinner. It was yummy!
