Happy Chuseok, Koreans!
Here's an update on Chuseok events. On Friday, we had a cooking class
where I taught the students how to make a half moon shaped rice cake.
This is one of the traditional food that people eat on Chuseok. Out of
all my the children, the 5 year old class listened the best and made
some good rice cake. The older kids were just messy. But they look cute
in their cooking outfit. I only got to take pictures of the 7 years because I forgot to take the cute 5 years since I was busy helping them.

So it was a pretty good Friday. We even got a gift and $100 bonus from my boss.

Later that evening, I had plans to go to karaoke to celebrate my birthday with some other friends. But, since it was a busy week, some of the Korean friends couldn't make it so we canceled and I had a birthday dinner with Ruby's coworkers instead. Ruby surprised me with a dish rack that can be hung above your sink to save space. I've been wanting this since I moved here. Tony said his present was a ride on his motorcycle to the restaurant and that he would install the dish rack for me. We went to eat at HOF..I think? It near our house. It's a beer place but they also serve really good food.

Later that night Tony and I ended up at Ruby's apartment because Ruby allegedly gave back Tony's favorite bus card but he said he didn't have it so we went to search her apartment and found it in her bag. HAHA! Tony and I drank some beers and we ended up Tony's apartment a few floors down from Ruby's. I ended up knocking out there but somehow I was able to get back to my apartment where I crashed. Good times!
Chuseok celebration continued today. I went with Ruby to her gpa's house in Gimhae last night to do a traditional Chuseok ceremony this morning. It was pretty cool. Her cousins taught me how to play GO! STOP! (Korean card game) which was pretty fun. I even bought my own set of cards today. We ended up ordering chicken at midnight and then went to bed. We woke up super early this morning to pay respects to Ruby's ancestors. We offered them food and water and bowed to them. I would explain it in detail but that would take too long. Just take my word for it that it was pretty cool. Later we ate a big meal and her gpa gave the grandchildren cash. We all got 20 bucks. Although I'm not family, he still gave me money. ASA!

After the ceremony I was suppose to leave to go to Seoul at 10:40 am. However, it would've taken to 8 hours to get there because of the holiday traffic so I decided to just cruise in the neighborhood. We ended up watching a movie with her cousins. It took a while to figure out we could watch because of the age difference. Her cousin decided that Ruby and I would watch Taken 2 since it's in English and the cousins would watch a Korean movie. I decided that it would be nice to see a movies altogether so I offered to watch the Korean historical movie called Gwanghae (In English it is called "The Man Who Became King"). It did not have subtitles. It was pretty good for me not understanding what they hell they were saying. The only sentence that I fully understood was "How old are you?" Haha. It was an interesting experience.
